Mr. Sherman Henry Garner of South   Boston, VA died on Wednesday, March 5th at the age of 76.

 

Mr. Garner was born June 23,1948 in Halifax County, VA to the late Edward Moral Garner and Sarah Barksdale Garner.  He was a member of New Vernon Baptist Church, graduated from Mary M. Bethune High School and was a United States Army Veteran.

 

Mr. Garner is survived by his wife, Emma Loretta Garner of the home; (1) daughter, Keshala Garner of the home; (1) son, Gregory Garner (Jacqueline) of Cary, NC; (2) granddaughters: Gabrielle and Noelle; (2) brothers: John Garner and Michael Garner (Ruth); (9) sisters: Ruth Meads, Margaret Dixon (Eudophus), MaLinda Crawley (Charlie), Phillias Carrington (Raymond), Loretta Starkes, Thelma Toone (Ricky), Rosa Garner, Cynthia Garner and Letha Garner-Coleman (Howard); (3) aunts: Josephine Logan, Amanda Dorsey and Ruby Collin; (3) brothers-in-law;  (4) sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

A celebration of life for Mr. Sherman Henry Garner will be held on Tuesday, March 11th at 11:00 a.m. at New Vernon Baptist Church, 2071 Oak Level Road, Halifax, VA with Rev. John Elliott, eulogist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites.

 

Public viewing for family and friends will be Monday from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
