Mrs. Carrie Lee Adell Chalmers Hodges of South Boston, VA died on Friday, February 21st at the age of 87.

 

Mrs. Hodges was born in Halifax County, VA on April 20, 1937 to the late Willie K. Chalmers and Mary J. Shipp Chalmers and was married to the late Howard T. Hodges, Sr. She was a member of Berry Hill Baptist Church.

 

Mrs. Hodges is survived by (2) sons: Howard Hodges, II of Copperas Cove, TX and Kenneth Hodges (Mary) of South Boston, VA; (2) daughters: Susie Hodges of South Boston, VA and Mary Burns (Anthony) of Henrico, VA; (8) grandchildren; (11) great grandchildren; (1) great great grandson; (1) brother, Clarence Chalmers (Agatha); (1) sister-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by (2) sons: Willie Hodges and Ronnie Hodges; (1) granddaughter, Precious Hodges; (1) great granddaughter, Na’shya Hodges; (9) brothers: Ernest, Harvey, John Magood, James Hagood,  Willis Morell, Roger, Vincent, Donald and W.K. Chalmers; (6) sisters: Elizabeth Harvey, Evelyn James, Bernice Evans, Valencia Younger, Florine Dance and Queen Prescott.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Lee Adell Chalmers Hodges will be Saturday, March 1st at 11 a.m. at Berry Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Ronnie Haynes, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

 

Public viewing for family and friends will be on Friday from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
