Mrs. Barbara Jean Claiborne of Alton, VA died on Thursday, February 13th  at the age of 81.

 

Mrs. Claiborne was born in North Carolina on June 8, 1943 to the late John Henry Carrington and Mabel Barnette Carrington and was married to Harold Claiborne.  

 

Mrs. Claiborne is survived by her husband, Harold Claiborne of Alton, VA;   (6) children: Harold Anthony “Tony” Claiborne  of Philadelphia, PA, Bernadette Edwards (Veron) of Stroudsburg, PA, Kevin Claiborne (Stacy) and Christopher Claiborne, all of Queens, NY, John Claiborne (Diana) of Alton, VA and Priscilla Crocker (Keith) of Sedley, VA; (1) brother, Earl Carrington (Patricia); and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by (1) sister, Mary B. Johnson; and (2) brothers: Willie Carrington and John Junior Carrington.

 

Funeral service for Mrs. Barbara Jean Claiborne will be Tuesday, February 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Denniston Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

Public viewing for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service.
