Mr. Jesse “Cornell” King of South Boston, VA died on Thursday, May 9th at the age of 64.

Mr.  King was born February 16, 1960, in South Boston, VA to the late George and Mary King.  He was married to Lyric Hutcherson King and was a member of Blue Wing Grove Baptist Church.

​

Mr. King is survived by his wife, Lyric King of the home; (3) daughters: Whitney Gabourel (Ramell) of Hampton, VA, Jessica King, and Rokesha Barksdale (Charles), all of  South Boston, VA; (1) son,  Quentin Clauden of South Boston, VA; mother-in-law, Gloria Hutcherson; (5) stepsons: Jusquan Hutcherson, Tyquan Hutcherson, Daquan Hutcherson, Traquan Faulkner, and Zaquan Meadows; (15) grandchildren; (3) sisters: Charlene Boxley, Oneida Boxley and Ruby King; (2) brothers: Leon King (Marla) and Essaw Wade (Portia); (1) sister-in-law, Mea Hutcherson, (2) brothers-in-law:  Dwayne and Jeremy Hutchinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by (1) son, Quincy Clauden; (1) grandson, Kamden Sydnor; (1) sister, Betty Boxley Chandler; and (1) brother, Charles Boxley.

Funeral services for Mr. Jesse “Cornell” King will be Friday, May 17th at 1:00 p.m. at Blue Wing Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Graham Coleman, eulogist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

​

Public viewing for family and friends will be Thursday from noon until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
