Mr. Joseph Steven Claughton, Jr. of South Boston, VA died on Thursday, March 21st at the age of 82.

 

Mr. Claughton was born on January 12, 1942 in Halifax County, VA to the late Joseph Steven Claughton, Sr. and Bertha Murphy Claughton and was married to Verdell Tuck Claughton. He was the manager of the Bostonaires and was a member of Owens Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Claughton was formerly employed at Georgia Pacific and retired from ABB.

 

Mr. Claughton is survived by his wife: Verdell Claughton of the home; (1) son, Aundrea  (Yakima); (11) grandchildren: Ricardo (Corey), Shameka, Jeremy, Jalessa, Shaun (Crystal), Kiara, Crystal, Crishod (LaCresha’), Sheraine, Trayvon (Mikayla), and Lashawn (N’Dea); (5) great grandchildren: Stoney, Josiah, Isaiah, Ja’Kyi and Lauriel; (4) brothers: Moses, Jerome (Joyce), Everett (Kim) and Michael; (4) sisters: Louise, Patricia, Sheila (David) and Brenda; (3) sisters-in-law: Carolyn Veney, Diane and Lottie Clauden and a host of nieces, nephews, adopted children, other relatives and friends including a godson, Dauviea. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by (1) son, Steve Anthony Claughton; (1) sister, Juanita Tuck and (2) brothers: Ronnie and Larry Clauden.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Steven Claughton, Jr. will be Saturday, March 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Owens Grove Baptist Church with Rev. John Leigh, eulogist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

 

Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
