Mrs. Juanita Frances Owen Barksdale of South Boston, VA died Saturday, March 23rd at the age of 91.

Mrs. Barksdale was born in Halifax County, VA on January 27, 1933 to the late Jessie Owen and Mattie Pearl Henry Owen. She was first married to Orlando Williams and later married Reverend Louis Barksdale. Mrs. Barksdale was a member of New Vernon Baptist Church.

Mrs. Barksdale is survived by her children: Harold Williams of the home, Michael Williams and Richard Williams (Patricia), all of Richmond, VA, Reverend Gary Williams (Jacqueline) of Fredericksburg, VA, Sherman Williams of South Boston, VA, and Jeffrey Barksdale of Durham, NC; (2) stepchildren: Louis Barksdale and Iretha Barksdale of Danville, VA; (11) grandchildren; (12) great grandchildren; (1) great great grandchild; (1) sister, Estelle Powell  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by (1) son, William A. Owen “Apple Jack”; (4) sisters: Geneva, Mary, Esther, and Thelma; (3) brothers: William “Berkley”, Carroll and Herbert; and (1) stepdaughter, Shirley.

Funeral services for Mrs. Juanita Owen Barksdale will be Saturday, March 30th at 2:30 p.m. with services at New Vernon Baptist Church with Rev.  John Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

​

Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
