Mr. Howard Irvin Barksdale of Clover, VA died Tuesday, March 5th at the age of 60.

Mr. Barksdale was born in Halifax County, VA on April 14, 1963 to the late Howard Daniel Barksdale and Ida Gertrude Venable Barksdale. He was a member of First Baptist Church in News Ferry, VA. 

​

Mr. Barksdale is survived by (2) daughters: Kristy Hawkins (Rikeem) and Vanessa Barksdale; (5) grandchildren; (1) sister: Ruby Leigh (Rev. Louis Leigh); (1) brother: Frank Ballou (Carolyn); best friend and companion, Denise Durant-Bey; (2) sisters-in-law; (2) aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by (3) brothers: James Edward, David Lee and Hal Issac.

Funeral services for Mr. Howard Irvin Barksdale will be Monday, March 11th at 11 a. m.  at The Crawford House Chapel in Halifax with Rev. Ronnie Keene, eulogist. Burial will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery in News Ferry with military rites by American Legion Post 99.

 Public viewing for family and friends will be Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
