Mr. Sherman Owen Hughes of South Boston, VA died Monday, August 26th at the age of 80.

 

Mr. Hughes was born in Halifax County, VA on July 19, 1944, to the late Walter Hughes and Gertrude Walker Hughes. He was previously married to Mary Hughes and was a retired employee of Mecklenburg Correctional Center.  

 

Mr. Hughes is survived by (1) daughter, Sheryl Hughes; (2) sons: Timothy Hughes and Christopher Hughes; (2) grandsons: Tyler Hughes and Hunter Hughes; ex-wife, Mary Hughes; a host of other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, including Avery Traynham, and a multitude of other family and close friends. In addition to his parents, Sherman was preceded in death by eleven siblings.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Sherman Owen Hughes will be held Tuesday, September 3rd at 11:00 a.m. with services at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Wimbish, eulogist. Burial will follow in The Hughes Family Cemetery.

 

Public viewing for family and friends will be at Jeffress Funeral Home on Sunday, September 1st from noon until 6:00 p.m.
