Mrs. Roberta Tanner Allen of Sutherlin, VA died Sunday, December 17th at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 85.

 

Mrs. Allen was born in Halifax County, VA on August 21, 1938 to the late Willie Green Tanner and Harriet Moore Tanner. She was married to the late Earl James Allen, Sr. and was a member of White Oak Grove Baptist Church.

 

 

Mrs. Allen is survived by (5) sons: Ronnie Tanner, Michael Tanner (Michelle), Daniel Tanner (Penny), Walter Allen (Erin) and O. Keith Allen (Marina); (1) daughter: Janice Link (Michael); (11) grandchildren; host of great grandchildren; (2) sisters-in-law: Mamie Tanner and Eunice Tanner; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by (1) son: Earl Allen, Jr.; (4) brothers: Charlie Tanner, William Tanner, Robinson Tanner and Opera Tanner; and (1) sister: Margaret Tanner Harris.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Roberta Tanner Allen will be held Friday, December 22nd at 1 p.m. with services at White Oak Grove Baptist church with Rev. Maurice Ferrell, eulogist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
