Ms. Alis Bumpus Leigh of South Boston, VA died on Monday, November 27th at the age of 80.

Ms. Leigh was born April 11, 1943 in Halifax County, VA to the late James Lee “Jack” Walton and Ollie Crowder Walton and was a member of Dan River View Missionary Baptist Church. She was employed at J.P. Steven, Inc. for over20 years and retired from Boston Commons Nursing Home.

Ms. Leigh is survived by (1) son: James Crowder of New York; (5) daughters: Belinda Womack (Earl), Audrey Jeffress (Charlie), Crystal Boxley (Robert), all of Halifax, VA, Kelly Glass (Celus, Jr.) of South Boston, VA, and Angela Chandler (Carl, Sr.) of Nathalie, VA; (13) grandchildren; (13) great grandchildren; (4) sisters: Vernell Bruce (Rev. Paul), Patricia Chandler (Reuben), Sandra Davis (John), and Gertie Link; (3) brothers: William Walton (Deborah), Terry Walton (Petra), Kenneth Walton (Cathy); (1) aunt: Mary Royal; and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by (2) brothers: Millian Jerome Walton and James Louis Walton.

Funeral services for Mrs. Alis Bumpus Leigh will be Sunday, December 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at the Crawford House Chapel, Halifax, VA with Rev. Clifton Madden, eulogist. Burial will follow in Walton Family Cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Saturday from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
