Ms. Essie Rea Thomas of Alton, VA died on Friday, October 20th at the age of 89. 

​

Ms. Thomas was born February 26, 1934 in Halifax County to the late Richard Owen Traynham and Mattie Reed Traynham and was formerly married to Earley Thomas. 

​

Ms. Thomas is survived by (1) brother: Aaron Traynham (Vanessa); (2) sisters-in-law: Reatha M. Traynham and Alma Traynham; and a host of nieces, nephews, including the devoted Ricky Johnson, other relatives and friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by (2) brothers: Davies Traynham and Ivory Traynham.

Funeral services for Ms. Essie Rea Thomas will be Friday, October 27th at 1 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. P.R. Keyser, Sr., eulogist. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday from 10 until time of service.
